Mbale, Uganda – Vendors of Kikindu market in Mbale municipality located along Mbale – Soroti highway are counting losses following the heavy rain last week that lasted for hours resulting into floods that washed away the vendor’s stalls leaving their valuables soaked in waters.
Tom Kidanda the chairperson Kikindu Market Vendors Association blamed it on the Mbale municipality northern industrial division leadership for failing to maintain the drainage system in and around the market.
The vendors who spoke to our reporter expressed their fears on how they are going to pay loans and fend for their families since their only hope has been destroyed by floods.
