GHACOF 58 – Climate Services for Early Action
Kampala, Uganda: The Fifty- eighth Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF 58) will convene to decide on the forecast for the June-July-August -September (JJAS) season.
GHACOF 58 will be held virtually under the theme, “Climate Services for Early Action”
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in collaboration with partners is jointly organizing the Fifty-eighth Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF 58) for the June to September 2021 season to be held virtually from 25th to 27th 2021.
The forum will be held within the framework of the IGAD regional strategy for mainstreaming climate information in key socio-economic sectors for sustainable development.
The virtual forum will bring together climate services providers and users from key socio-economic sectors, governmental and non-governmental organizations, media, decision-makers, climate scientists, and civil society stakeholders, among others, to discuss impacts and mitigation measures for the upcoming season
According ICPAC the overall goal of the Forum is to reduce climate risks and support resilience to climate extremes.
GHACOF58 “Climate Services for Early Action” will release the forecast for the June to September (JJAS) 2021 season.
ICPAC member countries are Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
ICPAC is a designated Regional Climate Centre by World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
