Rwanda Meteorological Agency (RMA) has predicted rainfall between 1st and 10th June 2021 will range between 0 and 20 mm across the country.
According to RMA enhanced rainfall is expected in northern parts of Western Province and in areas of Virunga National Park. Expected rainfall will results from increased moisture in Congo as well as local effects.
The distribution of the rainfall across the country is highlighted below:
Eastern Province: Rainfall ranging between 0 and 5 mm is expected in all the districts of Eastern
City of Kigali: Expected rainfall is ranging between 0 and 5 mm.
Southern Province: Rainfall ranging between 0 and 5 mm is expected in Gisagara district, eastern
Nyanza, Ruhango and some pockets of eastern Huye, Nyaruguru and Kamonyi districts. Rainfall
ranging between 5 and 10 mm is expected in remaining parts of Huye, Nyanza, Ruhango, Kamonyi,
southern parts of Muhanga district and in eastern parts of Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru districts. Rainfall
ranging between 10 and 15 mm is expected in western parts of Nyaruguru and nyamagabe districts
and in northern parts of Muhanga.
Western Province: Rainfall ranging between 15 and 20 mm is expected in Rubavu, most part of
Rutsiro district and in western parts of Nyabihu and Ngororero. Rainfal ranging between 5 and 10 mm
is expected in southwestern pats of Rusizi and small part of northern Nyamasheke while rainfall
ranging between 10 and 15 mm expected in remaining parts.
Northern Province: Rainfall ranging between 15 and 20 mm is expected in areas of Virunga National
Park. Rainfall ranging between 10 and 15 mm is expected in most parts of Gakenke, Musanze and
Burera districts excepts some few pockets of their south eastern parts expected to receive rainfall
ranging between 5 and 10 mm. Rainfall ranging between 5 and 10 mm is expected in northern parts
of Gicumbi and Rulindo districts where their southern parts expected to receive rainfall ranging
between 0 and 5 mm
According to RMA the wind forecast of the 1st dekad of June 2021, moderate to strong wind ranging between 3.5m/s and 11.3 m/s is expected country wide.
A strong wind is expected mainly in Western province, in Burera and Gicumbi districts of Northern Province, in northern parts of Eastern Province plus southern parts of Kirehe and some pockets of northern parts of Kayonza district as well as in Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru and Huye districts of Southern Province. The rest of the country is expected to experience light to moderate wind
