Kenya weatherman warns of depressed rain

The weatherman says the long rains season is expected to experience a delayed onset with poor distribution, characterized by long dry spells. At a time when Kenya is experiencing food shortages, this means that farmers may have to work smart and utilize the moisture optimally in order to guarantee yields

According to Kenya Meteorological Department (March-April-May), season is an essential rainfall season for Kenya’s agriculture in Western, Rift Valley & Central.

The Outlook for March-April-May (MAM) 2023 states, below-average rainfall is expected over the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley, Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County), Coastal region, most of Northeastern and Southeastern Lowlands, and Western parts of Narok. Generally, near-average rainfall is expected over parts of Northwestern (Central and eastern Turkana), parts of South Rift Valley (Eastern Narok), parts of Southeastern lowlands (Kajiado), and the Western parts of Marsabit.
